What kind of vehicles will the EV05 reversing camera kit suit?
We recommend this particular kit for customers that want a reverse camera on the rear of a caravan, horse float, camper trailer or slide on camper.
How big is the screen in the EV05 reversing camera kit?
The actual screen size is 7” and the monitor dimensions are: 18cm (W) x 12.1cm (H) x 2.41cm (D)

How does the monitor mount?
The EV05 Reversing camera kit comes with a dash mounting bracket. There is no drilling required to mount the monitor, it simply adheres with 3m double sided tape. We also sell an optional suction bracket if you prefer to stick it to your windscreen.
How many inputs does the EV05 have?
The EV05 reversing camera system has 3 camera inputs. If you require more than 3 camera inputs then it is possible when paired with suitable control boxes.
Can i add a reverse camera on my car?
Yes you certainly can. It is an extra $130.00 to add a car camera. Just select your desired camera from the car camera option and the price will adjust accordingly. If you don’t want a car camera, then leave the option as ‘no car camera required’ and the price will stay at $515.00 in checkout.
Car camera options include:
- 170 degree mini camera – Great for mounting on the rear of most vehicles (4WD’s, utes, sedans etc.)

What type of camera comes with the EV05 reversing camera kit?
Our White Round Camera is usually a very popular choice for mounting on the back of a caravan however you have the option of:
- 170 degree mini camera – Great for mounting on the rear of most vehicles (4WD’s, utes, sedans etc.)
- 170 degree number plate camera (great for mounting on the rear of most vehicles where the number plate is centered)

What is a WOZA Kit and why do i need it?
A WOZA kit is just another name for a Suzi coil kit. Think of the WOZA kit as an extension cable but it is broken up into 3 pieces so it can be installed into a car and trailer.
We do not recommend normal extension cables to run from the car to the caravan as these cables are neither waterproof, nor are they designed to be continuously unplugged.
Where do you normally mount the monitor?
We will normally fit this monitor in the centre of the dash pointing towards the driver.
Can this monitor run all the time, not just in reverse?
Yes this is an option if you require. Just make sure your installer wires the power wires up to accessories power.
Can I use the Caravan Reverse Camera kit as a rear vision system?
You can wire the system to work all the time so you can use it as a rear vision system. However the camera has a 120 degree wide angle which means that it isn’t ideal for long distance viewing or good depth perception.

That’s not to say that this camera cannot be used as a rear vision system. A lot of our past customers have simply gotten used to judging the distance from experience.

To give you an example lets say you are driving along and you see a car behind you in the monitor. Because of the wide angle lens, the car may look quite a distance away when in reality the car is actually quite close. This is the type of distance that you will need to get used to in order to make a judgement as to roughly how far behind you the car is.

If you want more of a true rear vision camera, then we suggest installing our dual camera. It comes with a 120 degree angle lens which is ideal for reversing and a 45 degree angle lens for long distance viewing:
Can this monitor come on only when in reverse?
Yes, the power cable has trigger wires available.
Can I see this monitor in the sun?
The 7″ reversing camera kit has a sunshade built into the screen to limit the amount of glare that will obstruct the visibility of the screen. In saying this, there will be different times of the day that might affect the visibility of the screen that cannot be avoided. However, there are some visual settings such as, brightness, colour and contrast that can be adjusted to suit different lighting conditions.
Is this system 12 or 24 volt?
The EV05 reversing camera will suit both 12 and 24 volt as a reducer is built into the monitor.
I already have a camera on the back of my caravan, can I just buy a monitor?
We get asked this question a lot and the simple answer is if you have a Polaris camera on the back of your caravan, then yes you will have no trouble buying a monitor and parts to get your caravan camera working.

However, if it isn’t a Polaris camera then you will need to ask your caravan manufacturer what brand of camera they supply? If we know what brand of camera it is, we can most likely help you blend the camera to work with our system.

Unfortunately we all do not use the same wiring configuration so it is not a simple plug and play option.
I am buying a caravan and I want a Polaris camera, can I ask them to install your system?
Yes certainly, most caravan manufacturers are more than happy to comply with your request. Some might charge a small fee to run the cabling and mount the camera but it is definitely worth it to get this part installed while your caravan is being built.
Can I install this system myself?
The system itself is not very complicated. However, we wouldn’t recommend attempting to install the caravan part, perhaps leave that to a professional.

It is completely up to you though and It’s just a matter of knowing where to run the cables, pulling your dash/trim apart and finding power. If you feel like this is something you would be confident in, then yes you could install itself. If not, please give us a call on 1300 555 514 and we can recommend an installer for you.

So how exactly will this kit work with my Isuzu screen?
You will receive a dash panel switch that can be fitted nice and neatly into the dash:
Simply push the caravan camera switch in any time you like and you can view the caravan camera on the factory head unit.
Why do i need an Auto Electrician / Polaris to fit this kit?
The main reason is because you are tapping into the factory head unit and someone with expertise should be fitting a kit like this. Should something happen to your factory head unit while trying to install, Polaris will not cover any costs incurred from damaging the head unit due to improper installation.
Best to leave it to qualified Auto Electrician or Polaris to fit this particular kit for you.

Believe it or not, the Polaris Universal Maxx is a double din unit.
The Polaris Universal Maxx has a huge 10.1 inch screen is attached to a double din head unit that sits flush in the dash. The screen is adjustable to suit many different dashboards and to minimise potential glare issues. Even though the screen is big, you can still access all of the controls in your car because of the adjustability of the screen.
You choose which maps the Polaris Universal Maxx comes with.
At the time of purchase you can choose either the Tom Tom street navigation or the HEMA off road maps. We will preload the mapping onto a micro SD card and load it into the unit. The preloaded maps do not require any internet connection for navigation.

We sell an add on dongle that will allow you to use Apple CarPlay or Android Auto (depending on the type of phone you have). Both apps were designed to let you use certain apps from your phone on the head unit for safer driving. Think of it as like an extension of your phone but limited to certain apps such as: maps, messages, music apps and podcasts.
Carplay / Android Auto USB Dongle – $150.00
Yes, you can still use your iPhone even though it is an Android head unit.
Even though the Polaris Universal Maxx has android operating software, this doesn’t mean that you can’t use your iPhone with the Polaris Universal Maxx (and no you don’t need to buy the CarPlay dongle). Your iPhone will still connect via bluetooth for handsfree functionality and most of the apps that you use on your iPhone can be downloaded directly on the head unit itself. Apps such as Apple music, Spotify, Waze and much more can all be added to the Polaris Universal Maxx.

How does the HUD PLUS work?
The HUD PLUS is a small unit that mounts on your dashboard and reflects the speed up onto your windscreen. It simply plugs into the cigarette lighter and it calculates the speed via the GPS satellites. The HUD PLUS also has audible fixed speed and red light camera alerts built into it.
How is the HUD PLUS beneficial?
There are many reasons why the HUD PLUS would be beneficial and some include:
reduces the risk of accidents as you don’t need to keep diverting your eyes from the road to continually check your speed.
Lowers the risk of speeding fines as you can clearly see what speed you are traveling at and it also has the added bonus of warning you when approaching a fixed speed camera.
It reduces the risk of red light camera fines as the unit will alert you when approaching a fixed red light camera.
Its perfect for people who have changed their tyre size and aren’t exactly sure if their speedometer is correct
It’s great for learner and P plate drivers as they are always trying to monitor their speed but shouldn’t be continually taking their eyes off the road to check.
It’s great for people that have trouble reading small numbers on the speedometer.

How does it know the speed?
It calculates the speed via GPS satellites
How accurate is it?
Because the speed is calculated via GPS satellites, it is most likely more accurate than your speedo. All speedometers are calibrated to have some margin of error.
What is the GPS Refresh Rate
One time per second (1Hz)
How does it know where the Fixed Speed and Red light cameras are located?
The HUD PLUS works out via satellites when you are approaching fixed Speed and Red light cameras that are loaded in the data.
Who provides the data for the fixed Speed and Red light cameras?
The data is provided by Tom Tom
Does the HUD PLUS display anything on the windscreen when approaching the speed camera and red light cameras?
No the warning is audible only
Do I need to set anything up or turn the camera warnings on when I originally install the unit?
No you do not have to set anything up, just make sure that the voice is not muted (please read troubleshooting FAQ if you cannot hear the warnings).
How many metres does it warn me when approaching speed cameras and red light cameras?
The HUD PLUS will warn you approx. 190 metres on approach and then again at approx 50 metres on approach.
What kind of sound does it make when alerting me to a speed camera?
The unit will actually ‘tell’ you and it will also advise what the current speed zone is.
For example if you are traveling in an 80km/h zone and you are approaching a speed camera it will say ‘Speed Camera in 190 metres, speed zone 80km’, it will then warn you again at approx 50 metres ‘Speed Camera in 50 metres, speed zone 80km’What kind of sound does it make when alerting me to a red light camera?
The unit will actually ‘tell’ you, for example when approaching a red light camera it will say ‘Red light camera in 190 metres it will then warn you again at approx 50 metres ‘Red Light Camera in 50 metres’.
Will it warn me when approaching mobile speed cameras?
No, it will only warn you when you approach FIXED red light and speed cameras
How do I update the HUD PLUS?
We normally receive an update every year. To get the unit updated, you will need to send the HUD plus back and we will update it for you.
Can I match it with my vehicles speedo?
Yes there is a setting to calibrate the HUD PLUS to match your speedo exactly.
Does it have speed alerts?
Yes, it has 2 preset speed alert warnings that you can set up yourself.
The unit will make a beep sound when you exceed the preset warning.
So for example if you wanted to set a warning at 80 km/h and 100km/h the unit will beep once when you exceed 80km/h and beep twice when you exceed 100 km/h
Does the HUD PLUS display the time?
Yes the HUD PLUS does display the time. It displays in white and the feature can be turned off
Can I hardwire it?
Yes we do have a hardwire option available, the cable is $22.00 which means that the 12/24 volt power will be picked up from behind the dashboard.
Why do I need a hardwire cable? Can’t I just cut the cigarette lighter end off?
Our hardwire cable has a 5 volt reducer built in so that when you power it to 12 volt, you do not cause any damage to the unit. The 5 volt reducer is built into the cigarette lighter adaptor so when you cut this off, you are cutting off the reducer.
Can Polaris install the unit for me?
Yes we can, if you want us to hardwire it, it is an extra $75.00
If you just want us to set it up via the cigarette lighter, this is free of charge.
We will plug the unit in, mount the unit on the dashboard and apply the window tint.
Can I see it in sunlight?
As long as the HUD PLUS has been adjusted correctly to suit your windscreen, the HUD will display in sunlight with no problems. The window tint will also enhance the quality in sunlight.
Can I see the HUD PLUS at night?
Yes you can clearly see the HUD PLUS at night, if the speed is too bright you can simply turn the brightness down.
Do I have to use the window Tint?
The window tint is optional; some customers can see the speed perfectly fine without the window tint (except if you wear polarized sunglasses, please see question below relating to this). We suggest that you set it up without the window tint first and see how you find it.
Can I adjust the brightness?
Yes you can adjust the brightness up and down via the main menu on the HUD PLUS, or if you have the automatic brightness adjustment turned on, the unit will adjust accordingly.
Can install it myself and how?
You simply find a perfect spot to sit your HUD PLUS, plug it into the cigarette lighter and apply the window tint if you wish to use it.
How does it stick on the dash?
The HUD PLUS uses 3M double sided tape to stick onto the dash
What if my car has a dash mat?
We suggest buying some Velcro and sticking it to the dash mat.
Will it suit my car?
The HUD PLUS will suit any car. We understand that all windscreens are different shapes and sizes this is why the HUD PLUS sits on an adjustable mount so you can move it up and down to get the desired speed display.
Does it alert me when I approach red light cameras and speed cameras?
Yes the Polaris HUD PLUS will alert you when you approach speed cameras or red light cameras.
What is the difference between the DIGITAL HUD and the HUD PLUS?
The DIGITAL HUD and the HUD plus are the exact same unit. The only difference is that the HUD plus reflects the speed onto your windscreen whereas you look directly at the speed on the DIGITAL HUD.
In other words the HUD plus is reflective and the DIGITAL HUD is non reflective.Can I see the HUD PLUS if I wear polarized sunglasses?
You can still see the HUD PLUS perfectly fine when used in conjunction with the window tint, it does dim slightly but as long as the HUD PLUS has been adjusted to suit your windscreen you should have no problems.
Please Note: The above information is based from our own experience and customer feedback. Your experience with the Green HUD PLUS may differ due to individual differences and the fact that we all see colours differently.
If you wear polarized sunglasses a lot we would suggest to go for the DIGITAL HUD
Can I move it from vehicle to vehicle?
Yes you can move it from vehicle to vehicle as it just plugs into the cigarette lighter. We also sell the adjustable mount and window tint as spare parts.

Does it have to be in my line of vision?
Not necessarily, the numbers are a large display so mounting it near your line of vision is good enough.
We have the HUD PLUS mounted in the right hand corner of the dash and we can still monitor our speed perfectly fine.
Will it obstruct my vision?
No you do not have to have it directly in your line of vision but if you do, the speed displays in a clear transparent image, so you can see straight through it.
Are there different colours available?
No, the HUD PLUS is only available in a green display. The speed is displayed in green and the time is displayed in white.

Troubleshooting
I can’t see the HUD PLUS in sunlight, it’s too faint!
The HUD PLUS works perfectly fine in sunlight; it is probably just a case of adjusting it properly to suit your windscreen.
You will find that if you adjust it up or down, the image will either dim or become brighter.
Sometimes this means seeing the actual HUD PLUS screen as well.
The HUD PLUS is way out from my Speedo (this could range from 10 km/h to 100 km/h)
The HUD PLUS will vary slightly from your speedometer as your speedometer is calibrated with some margin of error, but if it is way out (from 10km/h and up) it is probably just a case of the unit being calibrated incorrectly; this is quite easy to do as it can be confused for the speed alert setting.
If you want the HUD PLUS to simply work off satellites, please set the calibration back to 0.
It takes about 30 seconds to pick up satellite, is this normal?
Yes the unit will take approx 30-40 seconds to pick up satellites
When I go through tunnels, it stops working, is this normal?
Yes, unless the tunnel has a built in GPS booster, the HUD PLUS will lose satellite whilst in a tunnel.
My HUD has overheated and it will not start until it had cooled down, is this normal?
Yes, as with all electronic products they can only take a certain amount of heat. Whilst you are driving this shouldn’t be too much of an issue, however if you are leaving your car parked in the hot sun for a fair amount of time, we suggest unplugging the HUD, sliding it off the bracket and placing it in the glove box. This will prevent the HUD from overheating whilst sitting in the hot sun.
The HUD PLUS is not alerting me to any red light and speed cameras that I approach, is there a problem with the unit?
Please double check that you have not accidentally muted the voice or turned the volume down. To enable/disable the voice press set (do not hold it down as this will turn the time feature on and off). Also go into your volume settings and make sure that the volume is turned up to a reasonable setting so that you can hear it. If you have double checked both of these settings and they are ok, please give us a call on 1300 555 514 to speak with our support team.
The HUD PLUS alerts me for some of the red light/speed cameras and not others, why is this?
As more and more cameras are getting installed, if the speed/red light cameras have been installed within the last update available from Polaris, then unfortunately it won’t be in the data until possibly the next update that we receive from Tom Tom. If you believe that the camera has been there for many years and it still is not warning you please give us a call on 1300 555 514 to speak with our support team.
