A Polaris reverse camera not only makes reversing a breeze but it ensures that you can see clearly behind your vehicle when reversing.

Believe it or not but 11% of accidents involve collision while reversing. Most of the time this is due to poor visibility and miscalculation (Budget Direct, 2018). The more vehicles fitted with reverse cameras, the more chance that this figure will drop.

No more backing into things with a Polaris Caravan reversing camera.
.
A Polaris caravan reversing camera not only makes reversing a breeze but it ensures that you can see clearly behind your vehicle when reversing.
.
Believe it or not but 11% of accidents involve collision while reversing. Most of the time this is due to poor visibility and miscalculation (Budgetdirect.com.au, 2018). The more vehicles fitted with reverse cameras, the more chance that this figure will drop.
.
Not only that but a reverse camera could potentially save a life or prevent injury. Surprisingly, three accidents occur involving children in home driveways every week (A parent’s guide to kidsafe roads, 2016).
.
We recommend this particular kit for customers that want a reverse camera on the rear of a caravan, Horse float, camper trailer or slide on camper.
.
We do not recommend this particular kit as it comes with cabling to suit trailer systems however, below are some of our other 5″ systems dedicated to other applications.
5″ Motorhome Dual Camera Rear View system
.
.
The actual screen size is 5” and the monitor dimensions are: 14.2cm (W) x 9.8cm (H) x 2.5cm (D)
Sunshade depth: 5.5cm
The 5″ caravan reversing camera kit comes with a dash mounting bracket. There is no drilling required to mount the monitor, it simply adheres with 3m double sided tape. We also sell an optional suction bracket if you prefer to stick it to your windscreen.
.
The 5″ caravan reversing camera system has 2 camera inputs. It is possible to have 3 or 4 cameras when paired with suitable control boxes.
Yes you certainly can and all you need to do is the following:
.
1: Add this kit to your cart
.
2. Add any of the following cameras to your cart:
.
.
.
Miniature camera with guidelines
.
.
Number plate camera with guidelines
.
.
3. Apply DISCOUNT code: reversevan to receive a $50.00 discount on the car camera
The 5″ Caravan Reversing Camera System comes with 4 lots of cables:
7 metre power cable – runs from the monitor to the rear of the tow vehicle.
.
2m car side WOZA cable – This cable plugs into the 7 metre cable and has a chrome socket on the other end. The chrome socket mounts on the back of the tow vehicle.
.
2.5m coil cable – A curly cord that sits between the tow vehicle and trailer
.
10m caravan WOZA cable – 10 metre cable that also has a chrome socket and runs through the trailer/caravan. The chrome socket mounts on the A frame.
A WOZA kit is just another name for a Suzi coil kit. Think of the WOZA kit as an extension cable but it is broken up into 3 pieces so it can be installed into a car and trailer.
.
.
We do not recommend normal extension cables to run from the car to the caravan as these cables are neither waterproof nor are they designed to be continuously unplugged.
We normally supply our White Round Camera. This camera is perfect for mounting onto vertical surfaces.
.
.
The camera that is supplied with this kit (White Round IR Camera ) is 120 degree wide angle lens.
We normally mount the camera on a vertical surface in the middle towards the top of the caravan.
.
If you wish to know where we would normally mount the camera for your specific vehicle, please call us on 1300 555 514 and speak to one of our experienced staff members.
That’s fine, if you cannot fit the white round camera on your trailer/caravan we would recommend either our black IR camera:
.
Or if you want to use it purely for reversing only, we would recommend our miniature camera to be fitted near the number plate:
.
We will normally fit this monitor on the right hand side of the dash near the driver if there is enough room. Otherwise it will go into the centre pointing towards the driver.
.
No worries at all, if you don’t want anything on your dash, e have other options available:
Mirror mount reverse camera kit
.
.
.
Give us a call on 1300 555 514 for the caravan option for the above alternatives.
Yes we have a 6.2″ Caravan reverse camera kit available
.
Yes this is an option if you require. Just make sure whoever is installing it wires the power wires up to accessories power.
You can wire the system to work all the time so you can use it as a rear vision system. However the camera has a 120 degree wide angle which means that it isn’t ideal for long distance viewing or good depth perception.
.
That’s not to say that this camera cannot be used as a rear vision system. A lot of our past customers have simply gotten used to judging the distance from experience.
.
To give you an example lets say you are driving along and you see a car behind you in the monitor. Because of the wide angle lens, the car may look quite a distance away when in reality the car is actually quite close. This is the type of distance that you will need to get used to in order to make a judgement as to roughly how far behind you the car is.
.
If you want more of a true rear vision camera, then we suggest installing our dual camera. It comes with a 120 degree angle lens which is ideal for reversing and a 45 degree angle lens for long distance viewing:
.
Yes, just make sure whoever is installing it wires the power up to the reversing lights.
The 5″ caravan reversing camera kit has a sunshade built into the screen to limit the amount of glare that will obstruct the visibility of the screen. In saying this, there will be different times of the day that might affect the visibility of the screen that cannot be avoided. However, there are some visual settings such as, brightness, colour and contrast that can be adjusted to suit different lighting conditions.
Yes, you can choose any of our cameras valued at $150.00 to come with this kit at no extra charge. When you order online, just write down the camera that you want in the notes section.
We get asked this question a lot and the simple answer is if you have a Polaris camera on the back of your caravan, then yes you will have no trouble buying a monitor and parts to get your caravan camera working.
.
However, if it isn’t a Polaris camera then you will need to ask your caravan manufacturer what brand of camera they supply? If we know what brand of camera it is, we can most likely help you blend the camera to work with our system.
.
Unfortunately we all do not use the same wiring configuration so it is not a simple plug and play option.
Yes certainly, most caravan manufacturers are more than happy to comply with your request. Some might charge a small fee to run the cabling and mount the camera but it is definitely worth it to get this part installed whilst your caravan is being built.
The 5″ caravan reversing camera kit will suit both 12 and 24 volt as it has a reducer built into the monitor.
The system itself is not very complicated. However, we wouldn’t recommend attempting to install the caravan part, perhaps leave that to a professional.
.
It is completely up to you though and It’s just a matter of knowing where to run the cables, pulling your dash/trim apart and finding power. If you feel like this is something you would be confident in, then yes you could install itself. If not, please give us a call on 1300 555 514 and we can recommend an installer for you.
Our guys will usually run the wiring through cupboards at the back of the caravan, come out underneath and then run the cabling underneath the chassis.
Yes we certainly do, please give us a call on 1300 555 514 to arrange a booking time.
For a caravan we normally charge $400.00 to install the 5″ caravan reversing camera kit.
You have 2 years warranty so you can be rest assured that you have chosen a product with the support to back it.
Yes 100%. Even though we are a small team, we want to make sure that you get a working product at your doorstep.
We sure do. For more information on how zipmoney works please visit www.zipmoney.com.au

The Polaris front and rear dash cam ease the insurance process if you are involved in an accident. Furthermore, it can help avoid arguments out on the road. Other drivers involved will normally keep quiet after being politely told that the whole accident was caught on camera.
The Polaris dual dash camera not only records what is in front of you, but also includes a rear camera to record what is happening behind you.
A car that accidentally backs onto you.
In case someone hits you from behind, drives off and the front camera misses it.
Using it as a Reversing aid
However, it will take up to a 128 GB micro SD card – Great for capturing adventures.
This is a great built in feature which makes sure that your front and rear dash cam are not going to miss anything.
The Polaris front and rear dash cam will allow you to toggle between different screens. Picture in picture > Rear Cam > Front Cam > Horizontal Split screen, Vertical split screen.
If the Polaris front and rear dash cam detects an accelerated rate of motion caused by sudden impact, it will lock the current footage and cannot be recorded over.
The front dash cam records in 1080P which gives you crystal clear footage of what is going on in front of you.
The front dash cam records in 720P which is still great quality for capturing number plates etc.
The rear dash cam is designed to be mounted on the outside of the vehicle near the number plate. It is protected by dust and the effects temporary submersion in water (30 minutes at 3 feet).
WDR stands for wide dynamic Range meaning, it creates optimal footage when recording dark and light components together. This is a great feature for capturing number plates at night.
The Polaris front and rear dash cam goes into standby mode when accessories power is switched off. This means that if the dash cam detects motion or an impact, the camera will turn on and record for 10 seconds.
Just pop the SD card out, load into your computer and drop and drag your files.
Don’t wait until involved in an accident to buy a dash cam. $185.00 is a small price to pay for complete peace of mind.

Unfortunately you cannot just buy the 10 metre cable and fit it to the car. The chrome socket will be fine but the problem will arise when you try to fit the 4 pin FEMALE plug into a Polaris extension cable or power cable which is also FEMALE.
If you want extra cable for the car side then you can purchase an extension cable or some of our monitors need the 7m power cable.

The HUD PLUS is a small unit that mounts on your dashboard and reflects the speed up onto your windscreen. It simply plugs into the cigarette lighter and it calculates the speed via the GPS satellites. The HUD PLUS also has audible fixed speed and red light camera alerts built into it.
There are many reasons why the HUD PLUS would be beneficial and some include:
reduces the risk of accidents as you don’t need to keep diverting your eyes from the road to continually check your speed.
Lowers the risk of speeding fines as you can clearly see what speed you are traveling at and it also has the added bonus of warning you when approaching a fixed speed camera.
It reduces the risk of red light camera fines as the unit will alert you when approaching a fixed red light camera.
Its perfect for people who have changed their tyre size and aren’t exactly sure if their speedometer is correct
It’s great for learner and P plate drivers as they are always trying to monitor their speed but shouldn’t be continually taking their eyes off the road to check.
It’s great for people that have trouble reading small numbers on the speedometer.
Classic or imported cars where the speed is displayed in miles per hour
It calculates the speed via GPS satellites
Because the speed is calculated via GPS satellites, it is most likely more accurate than your speedo. All speedometers are calibrated to have some margin of error.
One time per second (1Hz)
The HUD PLUS works out via satellites when you are approaching fixed Speed and Red light cameras that are loaded in the data.
The data is provided by Tom Tom
No the warning is audible only
No you do not have to set anything up, just make sure that the voice is not muted (please read troubleshooting FAQ if you cannot hear the warnings).
The HUD PLUS will warn you approx. 190 metres on approach and then again at approx 50 metres on approach.
The unit will actually ‘tell’ you and it will also advise what the current speed zone is.
For example if you are traveling in an 80km/h zone and you are approaching a speed camera it will say ‘Speed Camera in 190 metres, speed zone 80km’, it will then warn you again at approx 50 metres ‘Speed Camera in 50 metres, speed zone 80km’
The unit will actually ‘tell’ you, for example when approaching a red light camera it will say ‘Red light camera in 190 metres it will then warn you again at approx 50 metres ‘Red Light Camera in 50 metres’.
No, it will only warn you when you approach FIXED red light and speed cameras
We normally receive an update every year. To get the unit updated, you will need to send the HUD plus back and we will update it for you.
Yes there is a setting to calibrate the HUD PLUS to match your speedo exactly.
Yes, it has 2 preset speed alert warnings that you can set up yourself.
The unit will make a beep sound when you exceed the preset warning.
So for example if you wanted to set a warning at 80 km/h and 100km/h the unit will beep once when you exceed 80km/h and beep twice when you exceed 100 km/h
Yes the HUD PLUS does display the time. It displays in white and the feature can be turned off
Yes we do have a hardwire option available, the cable is $22.00 which means that the 12/24 volt power will be picked up from behind the dashboard.
Our hardwire cable has a 5 volt reducer built in so that when you power it to 12 volt, you do not cause any damage to the unit. The 5 volt reducer is built into the cigarette lighter adaptor so when you cut this off, you are cutting off the reducer.
Yes we can, if you want us to hardwire it, it is an extra $50.00.
If you just want us to set it up via the cigarette lighter, this is free of charge.
We will plug the unit in, mount the unit on the dashboard and apply the window tint.
As long as the HUD PLUS has been adjusted correctly to suit your windscreen, the HUD will display in sunlight with no problems. The window tint will also enhance the quality in sunlight.
Yes you can clearly see the HUD PLUS at night, if the speed is too bright you can simply turn the brightness down.
The window tint is optional; some customers can see the speed perfectly fine without the window tint (except if you wear polarized sunglasses, please see question below relating to this). We suggest that you set it up without the window tint first and see how you find it.
Yes you can adjust the brightness up and down via the main menu on the HUD PLUS, or if you have the automatic brightness adjustment turned on, the unit will adjust accordingly.
You simply find a perfect spot to sit your HUD PLUS, plug it into the cigarette lighter and apply the window tint if you wish to use it.
The HUD PLUS uses 3M double sided tape to stick onto the dash
We suggest buying some Velcro and sticking it to the dash mat.
The HUD PLUS will suit any car. We understand that all windscreens are different shapes and sizes this is why the HUD PLUS sits on an adjustable mount so you can move it up and down to get the desired speed display.
Yes the Polaris HUD PLUS will alert you when you approach speed cameras or red light cameras.
The DIGITAL HUD and the HUD plus are the exact same unit. The only difference is that the HUD plus reflects the speed onto your windscreen whereas you look directly at the speed on the DIGITAL HUD.
In other words the HUD plus is reflective and the DIGITAL HUD is non reflective.
You can still see the HUD PLUS perfectly fine when used in conjunction with the window tint, it does dim slightly but as long as the HUD PLUS has been adjusted to suit your windscreen you should have no problems.
Please Note: The above information is based from our own experience and customer feedback. Your experience with the Green HUD PLUS may differ due to individual differences and the fact that we all see colours differently.
If you wear polarized sunglasses a lot we would suggest to go for the DIGITAL HUD
Yes you can move it from vehicle to vehicle as it just plugs into the cigarette lighter. We also sell the adjustable mount and window tint as spare parts.
The dimensions of the unit are (L) 10.07cm x (H) 7cm x (W) 1.5cm
The unit weighs 80 grams
Not necessarily, the numbers are a large display so mounting it near your line of vision is good enough.
We have the HUD PLUS mounted in the right hand corner of the dash and we can still monitor our speed perfectly fine.
No you do not have to have it directly in your line of vision but if you do, the speed displays in a clear transparent image, so you can see straight through it.
No, the HUD PLUS is only available in a green display. The speed is displayed in green and the time is displayed in white.
12 months replacement Warranty
We have a number of stockists available which you can find on our website www.polarisgps.com.com.au
The unit is $129.00 + P&H
Postage and handling is $13.50
How long will it take to get to me?
Please view our shipping information here
The HUD PLUS is sent via Australia Post E-parcel and a signature needs to be obtained upon delivery.
The HUD PLUS works perfectly fine in sunlight; it is probably just a case of adjusting it properly to suit your windscreen.
You will find that if you adjust it up or down, the image will either dim or become brighter.
Sometimes this means seeing the actual HUD PLUS screen as well.
The HUD PLUS will vary slightly from your speedometer as your speedometer is calibrated with some margin of error, but if it is way out (from 10km/h and up) it is probably just a case of the unit being calibrated incorrectly; this is quite easy to do as it can be confused for the speed alert setting.
If you want the HUD PLUS to simply work off satellites, please set the calibration back to 0.
Yes the unit will take approx 30-40 seconds to pick up satellites
Yes, unless the tunnel has a built in GPS booster, the HUD PLUS will lose satellite whilst in a tunnel.
Yes, as with all electronic products they can only take a certain amount of heat. Whilst you are driving this shouldn’t be too much of an issue, however if you are leaving your car parked in the hot sun for a fair amount of time, we suggest unplugging the HUD, sliding it off the bracket and placing it in the glove box. This will prevent the HUD from overheating whilst sitting in the hot sun.
Please double check that you have not accidentally muted the voice or turned the volume down. To enable/disable the voice press set (do not hold it down as this will turn the time feature on and off). Also go into your volume settings and make sure that the volume is turned up to a reasonable setting so that you can hear it. If you have double checked both of these settings and they are ok, please give us a call on 1300 555 514 to speak with our support team.
As more and more cameras are getting installed, if the speed/red light cameras have been installed within the last update available from Polaris, then unfortunately it won’t be in the data until possibly the next update that we receive from Tom Tom. If you believe that the camera has been there for many years and it still is not warning you please give us a call on 1300 555 514 to speak with our support team.
We believe this to be a power issue. Please contact Polaris on 1300 555 514 or email returns@poron.com.au and we will send you out a brand new Cigarette lighter adaptor.
