The Polaris dual dash camera is a great affordable reverse camera system
This device can be wired up as a reverse camera system with the added feature of recording both front and rear.
It comes with a reverse trigger wire which means when you engage reverse, the rear camera will override whatever is on the screen at the time , all while still recording.

The screen size is 4″ which makes it a great tool for using as a reverse camera.

Dash Camera tricks and tips
Did you know that most of the dash cams out on the market pretty much all have the same features and work the same?
Whether you own a Polaris dash cam or another brand of dash cam, here are just a few of our handy hints to ensure that your dash cam captures the footage you need:
1. FORMAT YOUR SD CARD REGULARLY
If you don’t read anything else on this list, then just read this tip:
Most of the time, we blame the dash cam for not recording our most crucial needed footage when we should be blaming the SD card.
SD cards used in dash cams are put through their paces. Recording and then getting stopped suddenly when the car is turned off can create potential problems. SD cards can become corrupted and this is where the problem lies. Formatting the SD card on a regular basis completely wipes the SD card and any potential hidden corrupt files. Trust me, it is better to be safe than sorry so let’s repeat together: FORMAT, FORMAT, FORMAT.
2. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A REPUTABLE, CLASS 10, BRAND OF SD CARD
Sometimes formatting is not enough for some SD cards and sometimes even the class of SD card makes a big difference. Our dash cam comes with a 16GB, class 10 Kingston. So when purchasing an SD card for your dash cam, stick to the well-known, brands and make sure it is class 10.
3. MOST DASH CAMS WILL NOT RUN VERY LONG WITHOUT POWER.
Yes most dash cameras have a built in battery however the battery is not designed to stay on very long while it’s in use without constant power. Most dash cams will only last 5 – 10 minutes while recording without power. The dash camera also won’t charge very much while in use.
So what is the purpose of the battery then? Well a lot of dash cameras have ‘park detection’. The idea behind this is when you turn your ignition off, the dash cam turns off and goes into standby mode. If you have the park detection feature on and the G-sensor senses a substantial impact, the dash cam will turn on, record for x amount of seconds and turn back off again.
4. YOUR DATE AND TIME CAN REVERT BACK TO DEFAULT IF YOU HAVEN’T USED THE DASH CAM IN A COUPLE OF DAYS.
As noted above the dash camera battery doesn’t last long, nor will it really charge all that much while it’s in use (The battery drains A LOT when it is recording). So if you haven’t driven your car in a couple of days, the dash cam’s battery will completely drain and it will revert back to most of its default settings – including date and time. If you want to ensure that this doesn’t happen, our best advice is to take the dash camera with you and put it on charge at home if you know that you won’t be driving your car in the next couple of days.
5. TURN MOTION DETECTION OFF
In all honesty, motion detection is not needed in most of the dash cams on the market and I am not quite sure why manufacturers keep adding it in (Even our dash cam has the motion detection feature). The reason we don’t suggest turning it on is because most dash cams automatically start recording when you turn your ignition on anyway (without motion detection being activated). The problem with motion detection is that if the dash cam doesn’t detect any motion a certain distance from the lens, it will stop recording until it detects motion again. This is not ideal if you are sitting at lights and something happens. So our advice is to turn motion detection off as most dash cams are designed to automatically start recording when you start your car anyway.
These tips and opinions have been formed from testing many dash cam samples over the years and have found is that most dash cameras have the same features / problems.
