Frequently Asked Questions

We recommend checking out our Genogram at the bottom of the description tab to help answer some basic questions. It will guide you to the right kit for your vehicle based on your needs.

We’ve created different kits to match various Next Gen Ranger models and existing equipment you may already have. For example, if you already have a caravan camera, you won’t need a full caravan camera kit—just the parts for integration.

Ford’s 24.5 touring pack includes pre-installed wiring under the glove box. If your vehicle has 360° cameras, it likely includes this wiring and a pre-installed trailer camera icon in the software.

For other Next Gen Rangers with Sync 4, there is a plug behind the cluster panel for connecting a trailer camera. If you require this plug, Ford will need to activate the trailer camera function in the head unit.

Yes you can check your vehicle for the wires as they are located underneath your glove box (pictures below):

In their recently revised Body Building manual, all the information is located on page 114-116:

Reprogramming of the APIM and the IPMA using the FDRS will be required to allow the IPMA to display the auxiliary rear view camera whilst the vehicle is moving. See your local Ford Dealer or National Sales agent for further information on the APIM reprogramming’

‘Only vehicles with Digital Rear Vision and/or 360 deg Cameras (J3KAH or J3KAR) have the IPMA capability to support aftermarket fitment of an Auxiliary camera (NTSC format)’

Our workshop tests show that only CVBS NTSC cameras are compatible with the Ford Factory screen.

Yes, it can. Check our Genogram at the bottom of the description tab to find the kit that’s right for you.

Take a photo of your caravan camera and the plug on your A-frame or drawbar. Text it to us at 0483 930 453, and we’ll assess it and give you advice on compatibility.

Here is a quick summary:

  • CVBS (Composite Video Baseband Signal) is a traditional analogue signal used for many years, providing good standard-definition picture quality.
  • AHD (Analogue High Definition) is a newer technology that delivers higher-definition video, making it ideal for clearer images in modern reversing cameras.

Both signals are analogue, meaning they avoid lag often found in digital signals, which is important for real-time applications like reversing cameras.

Both CVBS & AHD cameras use are either:

  • NTSC (30Hz)
  • PAL (25 Hz)

It is important to note that Hz in this context refers to the frame rate and is another way of indicating whether the camera uses the NTSC or PAL format.

When it comes to the Next Gen Ford Head Unit, the head unit will only accept the following format:

  • CVBS, NTSC (30Hz)
