No more backing into things with a Polaris reversing camera.
A Polaris reversing camera not only makes reversing a breeze but it ensures that you can see clearly behind your vehicle when reversing.
Believe it or not but 11% of accidents involve collision while reversing. Most of the time this is due to poor visibility and miscalculation (Budgetdirect.com.au, 2019). The more vehicles fitted with reversing cameras, the more chance that this figure will drop.
Not only that but a reverse camera could potentially save a life or prevent injury. Surprisingly, three accidents occur involving children in home driveways every week (A parent’s guide to kidsafe roads, 2016).
What kind of vehicles will the EV70DC reversing camera kit suit?
We recommend this particular kit for customers that want a rear vision camera on the rear of a motorhome or RV
How big is the screen in the EV70DC reversing camera kit?
The actual screen size is 7” and the monitor dimensions are: 18cm (W) x 12.1cm (H) x 2.41cm (D)
Sunshade depth: 4.5cm
How does the monitor mount?
The EV70DC Reversing camera kit comes with a dash mounting bracket. There is no drilling required to mount the monitor, it simply adheres with 3m double sided tape. We also sell an optional suction bracket if you prefer to stick it to your windscreen.
How many inputs does the EV70DC have?
The EV70DC reversing camera system has 3 camera inputs. If you require more than 3 camera inputs then it is possible when paired with suitable control boxes.
How much cable does this kit come with?
The EV70DC reversing camera kit comes with 7 metres of cable
What type of camera comes with the EV70DC reversing camera kit?
The EV70DC comes with a dual camera
What is the angle lens measurement on the cameras?
The dual camera has a 120 degree wide angle lens which is perfect for reversing. The other lens is 45 degrees which is great for long distance viewing
Where do you normally mount the monitor?
We will normally fit this monitor in the centre of the dash pointing towards the driver.
Where does the camera normally mount?
We normally mount the camera on a vertical surface in the middle towards the top of the motorhome. If you cannot mount it on a vertical surface then the bracket can be adjusted to mount on top of the motorhome looking down / out.
Can this monitor run all the time, not just in reverse?
Yes this is an option if you require. Just make sure whoever is installing it wires the power wires up to accessories power.
Can this monitor come on only when in reverse?
Yes, the power cable has trigger wires available. This is a great option if you want the 120° lens to come on only in reverse and view the 45° while driving along.
Why is a dual camera better for rear vision, can’t i just have a single camera on the back of my motorhome?
You can most definitely opt for a single camera on the back of your motorhome. The only issue with the single lens is that it is classed as a wide angle view.
The dual camera is used more for rear vision purposes. The main reason is because alot of wide angle lens cameras distort depth perception. You need a very narrow angle in order to view long distance (a fair distance down the road) and to judge how close vehicles are behind your vehicle.
This is where the 45 degree lens comes in handy. This type of angle lens is not ideal for reversing as it wont give you the wide angle however, it will give you more of a true perception of depth.
To give you an example lets say you are driving along and you see a car behind you in the monitor. Because of the wide angle lens, the car may look quite a distance away when in reality the car is actually quite close. However, with the 45 degree angle lens you should be able to make a better judgement because the perception of distance will be more accurate.
If you still wish to go for a cheaper alternative and only get the single camera lens then this is fine. You can still view the camera image while you are driving along, it may just take a little getting used to determining how close vehicles really are behind you.
Can I see this monitor in the sun?
The 7″ reversing camera kit has a sunshade built into the screen to limit the amount of glare that will obstruct the visibility of the screen. In saying this, there will be different times of the day that might affect the visibility of the screen that cannot be avoided. However, there are some visual settings such as, brightness, colour and contrast that can be adjusted to suit different lighting conditions.
Is this system 12 or 24 volt?
The EV70DC reversing camera will suit both 12 and 24 volt as a reducer is built into the monitor.
Can I install this system myself?
The system itself is not very complicated. However, we wouldn’t recommend attempting to install it into your motorhome, perhaps leave that to a professional.
It is completely up to you though and It’s just a matter of knowing where to run the cables, pulling your dash/trim apart and finding power. If you feel like this is something you would be confident in, then yes you could install itself. If not, please give us a call on 1300 555 514 and we can recommend an installer for you.
Does Polaris install?
Yes we certainly do, please give us a call on 1300 555 514 to get a quote or arrange a booking time.
How much does Polaris charge for installation?
We normally charge around $400.00 to install the EV70DC into a motorhome.
How much warranty comes with this kit?
You have 2 years warranty so you can be rest assured that you have chosen a product with the support to back it.
Do you really test all your products before they are dispatched?
Yes 100%. Even though we are a small team, we want to make sure that you get a working product at your doorstep.
